Mark Gross, CEO and Founder
Before becoming a teacher, Mark Gross had a successful publishing and Internet development career. He has held executive positions at Gralla Publications, Cowles Media Company, Business 2.0 magazine, and FutureNet. But Mark wanted more than just success in business. He left publishing and earned his teaching credential. In 2002, Mark started teaching social studies at Evergreen Valley High School in San Jose, California. He started School Loop as an award-winning classroom project, and founded the company in 2004. Mark is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College.
Tom Burns, CTO and Co-Founder
Tom Burns is a brilliant engineer, innovator, and entrepreneur who has founded companies, designed robots, and developed pioneering business applications for ad agencies. He was the CEO and co-founder of jGuru, the most popular independent community for Java developers, and wrote the software that powers School Loop. Tom graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering. He lives in San Francisco.
Dede Tisone, Chief Teaching Officer and Co-Founder
Dede Tisone is the master teacher-in-residence at School Loop. She has over twenty years of experience as a public school art teacher and specialist. The recipient of Fulbright-Hays fellowships to both China and India, Dede has traveled extensively throughout the world leading arts workshops. She left the classroom to direct the California Arts Project at San Jose State University. She first met Mark Gross as his mentor in a new teacher program. Dede has a master’s degree in Art from San Francisco State University and is nationally certified in the teaching of Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood Art.
