Mark Gross, School Loop CEO and Founder
Before becoming a teacher, Mark Gross had a successful publishing
and Internet development career. He has held executive positions at
Gralla Publications, Cowles Media Company, Business 2.0 magazine, and
FutureNet. But Mark wanted more than just success in business. He left
publishing and returned to school to earn his teaching credential. In
2002, Mark started teaching social studies at Evergreen Valley High
School in San Jose, California. He started School Loop as an
award-winning classroom project, and founded the company in 2004 after
the application’s successful run in his classroom. Mark is a graduate
of Franklin and Marshall College.
Paul Madera, Managing Director, Meritech Capital Partners
Paul Madera was a founding partner of Meritech in 1999. Today Meritech
manages over $2 billion invested in a wide variety of companies and
technologies. Prior to Meritech, Paul was Managing Director and head of
the private equity group at Montgomery Securities/Banc of America. He
began his career in finance as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley
& Co. in New York. Before joining Morgan Stanley, he served in the
United States Air Force as an F-16 instructor pilot and as a member of
the Air Force Liaison Office and representative to the Senate and House
Armed Services Committees. Paul holds a B.S. from the United States Air
Force Academy and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of
Business. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Jeff Samberg, Managing Member, Acadia Woods Partners, LCC
Jeff Samberg is the Managing Member of Acadia Woods Partners, LLC,
a New York–based investment partnership that focuses primarily on early
stage technology companies. Prior to joining Acadia Woods, Jeff lived
in the San Francisco Bay Area for 15 years, holding a number of
high-tech management roles, including Vice President of Corporate
Strategy for PeopleSoft Inc., Vice President of Business Development
for Wily Technology, and Entrepreneur-in-Residence for Greylock
Partners. Jeff received his M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of
Business and his B.A. with high honors in Economics from Princeton University.
